    Afterschool Baseball Fundamentals

    Join Coach Isaac Hess for a high-energy, four-week Afterschool Baseball Fundamentals program built for serious young players — with dedicated beginners who know the basic rules, have an eagerness to learn, and can safely play catch with a real baseball also welcome. Each 105-minute class combines focused instruction in baserunning, infield, outfield, and pitching with high-paced Hustle Ball games to sharpen instincts, speed, and decision-making. Limited to 18 players per session, with one or two-classes-per-week options available. Players must arrive in baseball pants, cleats, and hat, and bring water plus all necessary gear (bat, glove, helmet, etc.).

    Amazing Athletes Tots is a guided, discovery-based program designed to engage children 18 months to 3 years in structured physical activities tailored to toddlers. This class is coached by Melea Wenzel who is a former collegiate athlete. She focuses on making classes fun, safe, and encouraging, while teaching strong fundamentals. The goal is to create a positive, energetic environment where kids are excited to learn and play.

    Wildcat Archery: Skills, Safety, and Sport In this engaging after-school activity, students will transform from beginners into confident, disciplined archers. Our curriculum focuses on the following pillars: Safety First: Master essential range protocols, including equipment handling and the universal whistle commands that keep the range running smoothly. Fundamentals: Learn the "11 Steps to Archery Success," focusing on proper stance, grip, and anchor points to ensure consistent accuracy. Skill Progression: Advance your technique as we explore varied shooting angles and challenge your precision at increasing target distances. Friendly Competition: Put your skills to the test with high-energy classroom tournaments and fun archery games designed to build sportsmanship and focus! *Middle school students (grades 6-8) can stay after school to attend this class but must be picked up promptly at the class end time. All other students must be dropped off and picked up by parents.

    Bass Class

    Bass Class In this six-week course, your students will fish to their hearts' content. This course is designed for experienced anglers who want to have fun and fish regularly. Students will receive a basic tackle kit with their enrollment. It is strongly recommended for students who have already completed the Fishing 101 course, but with a recommendation from the instructor, new students can enroll. Note: This class is held at Frances Meeks Elementary. Transport is available to FMES students only.

    Fishing 101

    Fishing 101 In this six-week course, your student will explore fishing at various levels. Whether you are a beginner or an avid angler, this course is perfect for developing your skills. Fishing rods are provided, and students will get to keep their rods at the end of the course. Note: This class is held at Frances Meeks Elementary. Transport is available to FMES students only.

    Fundamentals of Weight Training Summer Program

    Fundamentals of Weight Training Summer Program This course is a beginner-level program that teaches athletes the fundamentals of safe strength training. Over eight weeks, participants will learn proper form, basic lifting techniques, and how to build simple workouts using free weights, resistance bands, and bodyweight exercises. Each session includes a warm-up, guided instruction, and a weight training workout routine. Students will keep track of progress and document how much stronger they have gotten during this period. *This course is an eight-week course that begins in one fiscal year and ends in the next fiscal year. Due to system limitations and the requirement to keep the revenue from fiscal years separate, the class is being posted as two four-week sessions in two separate catalogues with two separate charges. Students enrolled in the June session will be automatically enrolled in the July session once it opens and charged for the second part of the course.

    Gymnastics and Tumbling Session 4

    *Note: Session 4 open only to students previously enrolled in Sessions 1, 2 or 3. Session 4: March 9 - May 8, 2026 Classes offered Monday - Friday Gymnastics is a sport that requires balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination and endurance. The skills and movements required in gymnastics contribute to the development of all muscle groups. Movement Education gives students an understanding of anatomy combined with effort and spatial awareness. The accomplishments of their goals/skills promotes self confidence in a fun learning environment. Safety is always a top priority when teaching skill progression. Gymnastics classes include instruction on the balance beam, uneven bars, floor, vault and parallel bars. Classes are for boys and girls. Tumbling classes specializes in perfecting floor skills. At least one year of gymnastics classes is required unless approved by instructor. All classes are one hour with the option to take more than once a week. Following registration, the instructor will place each student in appropriate class based on age and ability.

    Hoop Stars Basketball Academy

    Students will build basketball fundamentals including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense through fun drills, small-sided games, and 5-on-5 scrimmages. All skill levels are welcome, and each session emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence alongside skill development, giving kids a chance to grow on and off the court in a supportive, high-energy environment.

    Offensive & Defensive Lineman Training

    Offensive & Defensive Lineman Training This six-week football class meets one day per week and is open to students in grades 2–5. The class focuses on teaching the basic fundamentals of offensive and defensive line play, including stance, blocking, hand placement, leverage, footwork, and safe contact techniques. Sessions are designed to be fun, age-appropriate, and instructional, with an emphasis on proper technique, confidence, and effort. This class is ideal for beginners or young players looking to build a strong foundation in the trenches.

    Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country—and now it’s coming to Community Education! This class offers middle school students a fun and active way to learn the game while spending time with friends. Each session will include games, music, and plenty of playtime on the courts. Students will learn the rules, practice skills, and develop strategies in a relaxed, social environment. For our more advanced players, we’ll have dedicated courts set aside so they can enjoy competitive games and continue to improve their skills. Whether you’re brand new or already a baller, this class has a spot for you! Note: This class is held at the courts at Bryan County Recreation off Timber Trail. Transport is not available for this class. Parents must drop off and pick up at the start and end times of class.

    What is Playball? Playball is a fun and active program where children learn the basic skills they need to play sports — and so much more. Our lessons are designed to help kids grow in every way. We teach the fundamentals of sports in a way that’s age-appropriate, playful, and encouraging. For example, your child will learn: How to hold and throw a baseball How to bounce and catch a basketball How to kick using their dominant foot How to run, jump, balance, and use their body with confidence But Playball is more than just sports. Every session is also focused on building your child’s social and emotional skills. We help children: Learn how to be part of a team Follow instructions and take turns Build confidence and focus Understand what it means to win with pride and lose with grace Each program is tailored to your child’s age and stage of development: For 3- and 4-Year-Olds (WATCH ME PLAY) At this age, children learn through fun and group play. Our lessons help them follow simple instructions, work with others, and try new sports skills in a caring, supportive environment. For 4- and 5-Year-Olds (DINKIES) This program helps children build confidence as they begin school. We focus on improving sports abilities and encouraging independence. Kids learn how to deal with frustration, work with a partner, and grow in all areas — physical, social, and emotional. For 5- and 6-Year-Olds (PREPS) Older kids are ready to develop their skills even more. We introduce more structured sports techniques like shooting a basketball or dribbling a soccer ball. We also work on teamwork, leadership, and how to perform with control and confidence. At Playball, our goal is to give your child a strong, happy start — not just in sports, but in life.

    Playgolf

    What Is Playgolf? Playgolf is an international junior golfing program designed for children aged 5 to 12. Playgolf builds competence, confidence, and a lifelong love of the game through fun and skill-focused coaching. How It Works Playgolf brings its own driving range equipment making it easy and accessible. All equipment provided: Clubs, balls, and safety gear provided. The Three Stages of Development Beginner: Children start in a playful, age-appropriate environment, learning basic golf skills with a focus on fun and participation. Intermediate: Once the fundamentals are in place, the program shifts toward refining swing techniques and learning short-game (chipping, putting) and long-game basics. Advanced: At this stage, children focus on stroke-specific skills—perfecting techniques in chipping, pitching, putting, and full swing to improve performance.   • Taekwondo

    Taekwondo is translated into “the way of the hands and feet” and is designed to enhance balance, agility, and flexibility. Courtesy, respect, perseverance, self-control, and positive thinking are the foundations for achieving success in martial arts training. Master Flemmings is a 7th degree black belt, and he has additional martial arts instruction in Karate, Mudukwan, Hapkido, Jujitsu, Krav Maga (Israeli Self Defense) and Hwa Rang Do. Placement in the class will be determined at time of registration. Uniforms must be worn. Uniforms can be obtained through online purchase using the vendor of your choice. A three-piece, white set with a V-neck top, pants, and belt is recommended. Belt testing is available through the instructor. Please note that no spectators are allowed in the building during class sessions.

    Tennis

    This is an introduction to tennis class, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. It’s the fast, fun way to get kids into tennis and keep them playing. These are year-long classes. Students will need a 21, 23 or 25-inch racket, available from any sporting goods outlet or discount store. If you do not have a racket or do not know what size your child needs, the instructor will provide a sample for your child to try before you make a purchase.

    Tormenta Futures Soccer is a soccer and movement education program children grades PK-1 and 2-5. Students will learn the basic skills including dribbling, passing, scoring, and game play with a focus on sportsmanship. All equipment provided for use during class.

    Wildcat Fishing

    Wildcat Fishing: Get ready to head to the water! This after-school program is designed to turn middle schoolers into confident, self-sufficient anglers. Whether you’ve never touched a rod or you're already a weekend regular, this course will help you master the technical skills needed to catch the local favorites: Largemouth Bass and Bream (Bluegill/Sunfish). Equipment will be provided. Core Skills & Training We focus on the "Big Four" technical skills that take you from a spectator to a participant: Spinning Reel Mastery: Learn the mechanics of the spinning reel. We will focus on the "finger-flip" technique to achieve long-distance casts and pinpoint accuracy—essential for landing lures right in the Bass's strike zone. Small Cast Net Technique: Learn how to catch your own live bait. We’ll practice the "load and throw" method with a small cast net to help you achieve that perfect "pancake" spread. Pro Pole Setup: Stop relying on others to fix your gear! You will learn how to rig a rod from scratch, including threading the line, adjusting the drag, and choosing the right tackle for targeting bream or bass. The Fisherman’s Knot: A fish is only as strong as your knot. We will master the Improved Clinch Knot, ensuring your hook stays attached when a big bass decides to run. *Note: RHMS students can stay after school for this course but must be picked up promptly at the end of class.
