Bryan County Schools

“Welcome to Archery” is a program geared toward beginning and intermediate archers in grades 4-8. This course will ensure participants are knowledgeable in range safety, inspection and use of equipment, range etiquette, scoring procedures, and competition procedures.

This class is developed by USA Archery instructors and utilizes the resources available through USA Archery. Lessons will be held at Richmond Hill High School and will be taught by Richmond Hill High School's Coach Richbourg. Members of the Richmond Hill High School Archery Team will assist in instructing and monitoring archers. Archers will have the opportunity to engage with older students who have been in the sport for many years as one of the team goals is to foster a sense of community among its members.

Equipment is provided for use during class, and participants are responsible for the following:

1. Wear a long sleeve shirt
2. Wear closed toe shoes
3. Hair must be tied back
4. No dangling jewelry
5. “Arm guards” can be worn if you have your own.

The set up and operation of a safe archery range is supervised by a USA Archery® B.A.I. The equipment used in this class is universal. Every archer uses the same bows (Genesis) and the same arrows with no add on. This is to ensure the strength in the shot comes from the discipline and skill of the student and not the equipment.

Note:  This class is held at Richmond Hill High School.  ASP transport is NOT available for this class.
