    All-Star Athletes

    All-Star Athletes is a program that will develop your child’s physical strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, and flexibility. Sessions will provide introduction and practice of dynamic stretching, form running, agility training, and body weight strength conditioning. The six-week sessions will each include skills practice and development in a variety of recreational sports including basketball, soccer, baseball/softball, football, lacrosse, and volleyball. Note: This class is held from 2:45-3:45 PM at Frances Meeks Elementary. Transport is available to FMES students only.

    Babysitting & First Aid/CPR Works

    This course teaches students to meet the basic needs of children in a care-taking environment with a focus on safety. The training will help students develop leadership skills, start a babysitting business and learn how to communicate with parents while keeping themselves and others safe. Students will also learn child feeding and diapering techniques. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certification card. This class also incorporates a Pediatric First Aid Course that instructs students on how to deal with first aid issues to include medical emergencies, the use of an Epi-pen injector, injury emergencies, and how to handle environmental emergencies. Also covered are adult/child and infant CPR procedures as well as how to react to a child or infant who is choking. NOTE: Students must attend all classes in order to receive certification.

    Chess for Kids

    Learn how to play chess or improve your existing knowledge of the game. Students will learn rules, tactics, and strategies all while engaging in friendly competitions. Open to beginners and players with experience in grades 2-5.

    Dance

    This class, taught by Marylin Daniels and Marylin Jacobs of the Marylin Youmans School of Dance of Savannah, offers an introduction to ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical dance styles with a focus on rhythm, technique, coordination, flexibility and performance skills while building students' confidence. Black leotards, black or pink tights or black shorts instead of tights, pink ballet shoes, and caramel (tan) tap shoes are recommended but not required. Offered for grades PK-1 and 2-5.
  • Driver's Education

    Georgia law requires mandatory driver education before teens can obtain their Class D license. All 16 and 17-year-olds applying for a Class D driver’s license must complete an approved driver education course that includes 30-hours classroom or virtual instruction and six hours of instruction behind the wheel with training by a qualified instructor. Parents who live in the Pembroke/Ellabell area must transport students to Richmond Hill Community Education Center. Driving times will be scheduled after the first class session. A copy of the student’s learner’s license is required prior to beginning the class (bring to class). State law requires that parents drive 40 hours with their child and six hours should be at night. Driver's Ed is designed to help a student become a better driver. It is recommended that the student have had some experience driving prior to taking this course.   • Flag Football for Girls

    This flag football course for young girls is designed to introduce and teach the fundamentals of the game in a fun and supportive environment. Through engaging activities and practice sessions, players will learn the basic rules, skills, and techniques of flag football, including passing, catching, running, and flag pulling. Emphasis will be placed on teamwork, sportsmanship, and building confidence both on and off the field. Students should wear athletic shoes, have hair tied back, and bring a water bottle.

    Fundamentals of Basketball

    This class is designed to teach kids the fundamentals of basketball. Lessons will focus on shooting form, dribbling skills, and passing. Beginners and experienced students are welcome. Students will have the opportunity to play 5 on 5 against each other. Developing a positive culture that promotes self-confidence and teamwork will be our foundation. Students will be engaged in various drills and games to help improve their basketball fundamentals. *Note: No transport provided for this class for students not enrolled in MES ASP. Students must be dropped off and picked up by parents.

    Group Piano

    Group Beginner Piano is taught by former classroom teacher, Jo Hart. The small group class has every child at a keyboard learning the basics of piano with all materials provided. Students have fun while learning note spelling and basic music theory. This is a yearly course in which subsequent months build on the previous months. At the end of this year, your child will have an understanding of the basics of piano and will be ready to continue a lifetime love of piano. Sign-up now; class size is limited. *Note: Students must join at the beginning of the year to participate as each lesson builds on previous lessons.

    Group Ukulele

    2023/2024 Class Registration Closed BARITONE UKULELE for Beginners Now is your child’s chance to learn this exceedingly popular, easy to learn instrument! It is smaller, lighter, and has fewer frets than a guitar making it very beginner friendly. Also, learning to play this instrument first has been proven to provide an easier transition to playing guitar later because some chords will be familiar. Students will need a four string baritone ukulele in good condition (NOT a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele). It is suggested to look in local music stores and reputable online sites for baritone ukulele brands such as Mahalo, Lohanu, Kala, or Luna for good quality, affordable instruments that have that deeper baritone sound. Open to students grades 2-5.

    Gymnastics and Tumbling Session 3

    Gymnastics registration closes January 31, 2025 for this school year. Session 3: January 6 - February 28, 2025 Classes offered Monday - Friday Gymnastics is a sport that requires balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination and endurance. The skills and movements required in gymnastics contribute to the development of all muscle groups. Movement Education gives students an understanding of anatomy combined with effort and spatial awareness. The accomplishments of their goals/skills promotes self confidence in a fun learning environment. Safety is always a top priority when teaching skill progression. Gymnastics classes include instruction on the balance beam, uneven bars, floor, vault, and parallel bars. Classes are for boys and girls. Tumbling classes specializes in perfecting floor skills. At least one year of gymnastics classes is required unless approved by instructor. All classes are one hour with the option to take more than once a week. Following registration, instructor will place each student in an appropriate class based on age and ability, and confirmation of day/time of class will be sent via email to account owner.

    Kids in the Kitchen

    Kids in the Kitchen - Quick and Easy Recipes (Tuesdays) This class is devoted to the practical application of everyday ingredients and everyday kitchen items. Students will learn how to properly use kitchen items, like measuring cups and spoons, a knife, griddle and small cooktop to create a meal utilizing ingredients found in most kitchens. This four-class session focuses on proper prep and clean-up, along with creating a breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack. Kids in the Kitchen - Desserts (Thursdays) This class is devoted to the practical application of everyday ingredients and everyday kitchen items. Students will learn how to properly use kitchen items, like measuring cups and spoons, a knife, griddle and small cooktop to create a meal utilizing ingredients found in most kitchens. This four-class session focuses on proper prep and clean-up, along with creating and decorating kid-friendly desserts and sweets.
  • Little Toughies

    Little Toughies is a program designed to introduce girls grades K-5 to a variety of sports and encourage them to find a sport that interests them while giving them the confidence to pursue it. Girls will focus on a different sport each week for an eight-week session. Class is held twice per week. Examples of sports to be introduced are Ultimate Frisbee, soccer, basketball, baseball/softball, kickball, volleyball, strength training (using body weight), and running. Please apply sunscreen and bug spray prior to arrival if needed. *Sports subject to change at instructor's discretion

    Build character, discipline, and physical skills in Community Ed’s Martial Arts program! Whether you’re six or a teen, our classes will build strength with discipline and focus. Learn the basics, master self-defense moves, and develop confidence. As you progress, you’ll work toward your next belt, track your victories in your Student Success Journal, and get your own uniform to train like a pro. Remember, “A black belt is just a white belt who never quit.” Join us and become a martial arts legend--Ninja Kid style! Please note that no spectators are allowed in the building during class sessions. A two-week notice is required for cancellation.

    Piano

    Private piano lessons are offered to children and adults. Lessons are offered on a weekly basis for 30 minutes and are available for beginners as well as those who have piano experience. Minimum age requirements for enrolling in piano lessons will be determined by each instructor. Multiple qualified instructors will be teaching piano for the Community Education program. Piano lessons take place in the after school hours. Class times and locations will be assigned individually. Please note that your registration does not confirm your enrollment in the piano class. You will be contacted once assigned to an available class or placed on a waiting list if no class is available. Prices may vary by instructor. In Introduction to College Prep Piano, the student receives a weekly 30-minute piano lesson that is tailored to their individual learning style. Lessons are focused on theory, technique, sight-reading, aural-training, and a variety of musical styles appropriate for beginners to advanced students of any age. Students are responsible for purchasing lesson books as assigned and should have access to a piano for daily practice.

    Three/Four-Year-Old Program (WATCH ME PLAY) The WATCH ME PLAY program at Playball helps 3 and 4-year-olds develop sports skills through group participation and structured, fun lessons in a supportive environment. Children build confidence, enhance concentration, and improve mobility while learning teamwork, sharing, and following instructions. The program introduces age-appropriate sports skills and promotes visual, auditory, and motor skill development. Four/Five-Year-Old Program (DINKIES) The Playball DINKIES program is tailored for 4 and 5-year-olds and is ideal for those beginning school. Through structured lessons, children practice skills boosting confidence for sports and advancing abilities. This crucial age fosters fundamental development impacting academic, social, and cultural aspects. Our goal is to instill a positive relationship with sports. DINKIES focuses on ball skills, encourages individual participation, and builds confidence to overcome fears. By program completion, children gain significant sports competence. Five/Six-Year-Old Program (Preps) The Playball Preps program for the 5 and 6-year-olds concentrates on refining and advancing fundamental sports skills catering to children who are new to Playball classes. Children practice specialized sports skills with an emphasis on quality execution. They gain competence in various individual sport skills such as shooting a basketball or dribbling a hockey ball. Partner exercises introduce teamwork concepts and leadership roles. The program emphasizes skill refinement, including formalized drills and teamwork, laying the groundwork for competent sport participation.

    Private Violin Lessons

    This violin class is perfect for beginners, advanced beginners or those at the intermediate level of play. The instructor for this course is Abbey Terry, an active performer and music instructor. Students will develop an understanding of how to play the violin from scratch, demonstrate the ability to hold the bow, violin and shoulder rest correctly. Students will also learn the terminology, read basic music notation, practice effectively, and demonstrate reading music more fluently. Students are responsible for renting or purchasing instruments, plus scores, lesson books and collections as assigned.

    Private Voice Lessons

    This course consists of private voice lessons for all levels (age 7 and up) for the purpose of vocal technique and artistic application study for solo voice repertoire. After successfully completing the appropriate course of study, the student will: ● Have an understanding of terminology ● Demonstrate the ability to read basic music notation ● Learn how to practice, self study, and continue singing after taking the course ● Have knowledge of solo literature ● Be skilled in solo performance with required musical techniques and artistic expressions Students are responsible for the purchase of the required music. Failure to prepare the course materials may result in low productivity and slower results.

    SAT Prep

    There are several options available for enrollment. The Premium course includes the Three-Day Blast curriculum. The Premium course continues for an additional 10 hours of instruction following the conclusion of the Blast course. The Math Launch is a separate course option focusing on the math section of the SAT only. Requirements for enrollment: Students must have taken the PSAT or SAT and completed Algebra I; students must have a calculator (TI-84 or TI-84 Plus preferred) , a charged laptop or chrome book, and a College Board student account. If you are bringing a personal laptop, download the BlueBook app (Instructions HERE). You will be able to access BlueBoard with your CollegeBoard login credentials, so have your login and password. Option 1: Three-Day SAT Prep Blast The SAT Prep Blast course concentrates on SAT reading, vocabulary, and writing skills along with math practice. The course includes practice in taking the NEW DIGITAL SAT, as well as strategies for sections and question types. Learn to approach the test analytically and with confidence and practice effective test-taking strategies. Examine the format of test sections, modules, question structure and content, as well as practice the skills and techniques for each type of question. Review useful approaches for eliminating guessing, using actual test questions released by College Board. We will use authentic practice materials within Bluebook as well as other SAT practice resources available through the College Board and Khan Academy. Practice work will help identify individual strengths and weaknesses, so additional practice can be tailored to a student’s specific needs. SAT Prep Blast will allow for a full SAT practice test with scoring and feedback. This class meets on one Monday, one Thursday, and one Saturday for a total of 6.5 hours of instruction. This in-person SAT course will give you a leg up over any online course. In this course you will: Receive one-on-one instruction and help. Learn where to find the most useful SAT Prep resources. Overcome your test taking anxiety. Option 2: Premium SAT Course: Three-Day SAT Prep Blast + Section Specific Lessons The SAT Prep Blast course concentrates on SAT reading, vocabulary, and writing skills along with math practice. The course includes practice in taking the NEW DIGITAL SAT, as well as strategies for particular sections and question types. Learn to approach the test analytically and with confidence and practice effective test-taking strategies. Examine the format of test sections, modules, question structure and content, as well as practice the skills and techniques for each type of question. Review useful approaches for eliminating guessing, using actual test questions released by College Board. The SAT Section-Specific Course will concentrate on both the Math Section of the SAT and Reading and Writing Section of the SAT. Every lesson consists of three parts: instruction, guided practice, and scored practice. We will use authentic practice materials within Bluebook as well as other SAT practice resources available through the College Board and Khan Academy. Practice work will help identify individual strengths and weaknesses, so additional practice can be tailored to a student’s specific needs. Both the SAT Prep Blast and the SAT Section-Specific Course will include full SAT practice tests. Students participating in the Premium SAT Course will have the opportunity to take 2 full SAT practice tests. Teacher/student ratio does not exceed 1 to 15. This class meets on three Mondays, three Thursdays, and two Saturdays for a total of 16 hours of instruction. This in-person SAT course will give you a leg up over any online course. In this course you will: Receive one-on-one instruction and help. Learn where to find the most useful SAT Prep resources. Overcome your test taking anxiety. Option 3: (Not available now but coming later this year) SAT Prep Math Launch The SAT has four math sections. This course will provide instruction and additional practice resources for Heart of Algebra, Problem Solving and Data Analysis, Passport to Advanced Math and Additional Topics. Heart of Algebra entails analyzing and solving equations and systems of equations, creating expressions, equations, and inequalities to represent relationships between quantities and to solve problems, and rearranging and interpreting formulas. Problem Solving and Data Analysis encompasses creating and analyzing relationships using ratios, proportions, percentages, and units, describing relationships shown graphically, and summarizing qualitative and quantitative data. Passport to Advanced Math incorporates analyzing relationships using ratios, proportions, percentages, and units, describing relationships shown graphically, and summarizing qualitative and quantitative data. The fourth, smallest section includes Additional Topics in Math. Additional Topics involve Making area and volume calculations in context, investigating lines, angles, triangles, and circles using theorems, and working with trigonometric functions. This class meets on two Mondays and two Thursdays for a total of 8 hours of instruction. This in-person SAT course will give you a leg up over any online course.     Science for Kids

    This one-hour STEM class incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering and Math into a variety of fun activities for students in grades K-5. Some past activities include dry-ice bubbles, color-reversing flowers, seltzer rockets and pop-can cars. Sign up this class for engaging, hands-on learning! Early registration is suggested. Class is limited to 20 students per session.

    If you like LEGO® bricks, you’ll LOVE this! Snapology provides a fun environment for children to learn science, technology, engineering, art and math using LEGO® bricks and other similar building toys. We want to inspire your children to be creators and innovators for life! Your child is sure to have a blast whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands, or discovering how to think in new and creative ways to self-monitor plans, generate solutions to problems, and construct innovative builds all on their own! Shhh…don’t tell them it’s educational! Session 3: KinderBots - PK/K Class Only (November 20-January 22) Children will begin to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design. Whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building helicopters and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time. Snapology Real Word Robotics - All Classes Except PK/K (December 3-January 21, November 20-January 22, and December 5-January 30) In Snapology's Real World Robotics class, students interested in technology will create robotic models inspired by real life robotic technologies. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and programming as they build alarm devices, earthquake detectors, robotic arms, and much more. Your child will have a blast exploring the world of robotic technologies as they build, learn, and play. Session 4: Planes, Trains & Automobiles - PK/K Class Only (January 29-March 5) In Snapology’s Planes, Trains, and Automobiles program, children will explore the world of transportation. Students will build models of their favorite forms of transportation as they learn about energy, wheels and axles, air resistance, and more. They will also learn about the history and modern use of these vehicles, and apply this knowledge to their builds. Foundational Engineering - All Classes Except PK/K January 28-March 11, January 29-March 5, and February 6-March 13) Does your little learner love to tinker and create new things, or are they the kind of learner who likes to break things apart to see what’s inside? If so, they’re going to love Snapology’s Foundational Engineering: Machines and Contraptions program! This program gives your student the tools they need to understand mechanical movement and the importance of simple machines. They will see these moving parts up-close as they follow instructions to build various machines and contraptions, then use the models to develop new design ideas, test out physics concepts, and even play games with their partners and classmates. Whether they are the creative-constructive type or prefer the inquisitive-deconstructive way of learning, this program is sure to spark their engineering interests!

    Tennis

    This is an introduction to tennis class, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. It’s the fast, fun way to get kids into tennis and keep them playing. These are year-long classes. Students will need a 21, 23 or 25-inch racket, available from any sporting goods outlet or discount store. If you do not have a racket or do not know what size your child needs, the instructor will provide a sample for your child to try before you make a purchase.
  • Tormenta Futures Soccer

    Tormenta Futures Soccer is a soccer and movement education program children grades PK-1 and 2-5. Students will learn the basic skills including dribbling, passing, scoring, and game play with a focus on sportsmanship. All equipment provided for use during class.
  • Track

    Add some variety to your list of sport accomplishments through the Track & Field Spring Speed program. Let your child experience the thrill of racing their friends while realizing their physical and mental potential. This five-session speed program, designed and led by RHHS’s USATF certified, 12x Savannah Morning News’ Coach of the Year, Levi Sybert, brings focus to the speed side of the sport of Track & Field in a fun and interactive way. Participants will meet at Richmond Hill High’s Track Complex where they will be paired up with students of similar ability in order to prepare for their meet with the high school students at the Apex Invite. Our goal is that each child will experience first hand how to find fun and thrill in an activity they can do anywhere at anytime. Open to grades K-5. No transport available for this class.
